Card number 61 in the 61 card set is the vintage hockey card of Jim Morrison of the Detroit Red Wings. Morrison would actually play just 19 games in the NHL during the 1960-61 season and they were with the New York Rangers. The rest of the season was spent with the Quebec Aces of the American Hockey League, a team he would play for until the end of the 1967-68 season. He would not return to the NHL until the 1969-70 season.

He began his career with the Boston Bruins in the 1951-52 season but was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs midway through the season. Morrison played the following six years with Toronto and played in the NHL all-star game three times, 1955, 1956, 1957. He played 1958-59 with the Boston Bruins and 1959-60 with the Detroit Red Wings.
During his eight year hiatus in the AHL, seven with Quebec and one with the Baltimore Clippers, Morrison was selected a Second Team All-Star on seven occasions and a First Team All-Star once. In 1965-66, Jim was awarded the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL’s best defenseman while playing for the Quebec Aces.
Morrison returned the NHL for the 1969-70 and 1070-71 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In all, Jim played 704 NHL games and totalled 200 points.
After retirement, Morrison coached the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers for two seasons and the Kingston Canadians for seven. Afterwards, he spent 18 years as a scout in the Boston Bruins organization.
