The 1957-58 Topps set consists of 66 cards with a value of $3000 for the complete set. Gordie Howe leads the way in value at $500. The Glenn Hall rookie card is the highest valued RC at $400. Both the Johnny Bucyk rookie card and the regular card of Terry Sawchuk are of equal value to Ullman’s card.
Norm played in the NHL from 1955-56 to 1974-75, followed by two years with the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association. Ullman was a member of the Detroit Red Wings until a trade sent him to the Toronto Maple Leafs late in the 1967-68 season. Detroit and Toronto were the only two NHL teams Norm played for.

Often overlooked is the fact that Ullman was a major offensive threat. Eight times during his career, he placed in the top ten for goals scored. In 1964-65, with the Red Wings, he led the NHL in goals with 42, three goals ahead of Bobby Hull of the Chicago Black Hawks. Long before the Rocket Richard Trophy, the feat went without honour. That same season, he placed second in the race for the Art Ross Trophy, four points behind Stan Mikita of Chicago. Seven times, Norm placed in the top ten for points.
The Stanley Cup eluded Ullman throughout his career. Never having his name engraved on hockey’s holy grail, Norm did reach the finals five times with the Red Wings. He was traded to Toronto the year after they won their last Cup.
In his first of two years with the Edmonton Oilers of the WHA, he led the team with 56 assists and 87 points. Both numbers were inefficient to make the league’s top ten. Edmonton was where he started out, playing junior for the Edmonton Oil Kings and minor pro with the Edmonton Flyers before becoming a regular with Detroit.
The veteran of eleven All-Star games finished his career with 490 goals and 1,229 points over 1,410 regular season NHL games. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.
