1954-55 Topps NHL

ted lindsay detroit red wings 1954-55 toppsThe 1954-55 Topps set consists of 60 hockey cards. This set marks the first time Topps entered the hockey card market. In 1951-52, Parkhurst revived the hobby after over a decade’s absense. Topps joined in and produced hockey cards of players from the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins. Later, the division between Parkhurst and Topps would even out with Topps taking just the Rangers, Bruins and Blackhawks.

The 1954-55 set is perhaps one of the best looking and best designed and certainly was better looking than its Parkhurst counterpart. The set was led in value by the number 8 card of Gordie Howe. The card has a book value of nearly $2,000. The most valuable rookie card belongs to Doug Mohns while Camille Henry and Don McKenney also had significant RCs.
